Hi, I’m Kayla!
I believe in process-focused art. Art that is all about the experience and exploration of different techniques, tools and materials. Process-focused art is unique and original because the experience is completely my child’s choice. There is no right or wrong way to do it. It is filled with freedom and every child can participate.
My greatest joy in life is seeing the looks of awe and delight on my little girls’ faces when we spend time creating and exploring new materials together. I love to create opportunities for art and creativity for my girls and I am always on the lookout for new activities for us to try. A couple of years ago I invited some friends and their kids to join my daughters and I for 8 weeks of art dates in our home. Teaching or leading is WAY outside of my comfort zone but creating with a bunch of excited 2-year olds was totally my jam! It was amazing to watch them try something new each week and be encouraged in their creativity. It is that experience and the experiences with my own children that have sparked my dream for Start Some Art. My own corner of the internet where I can spread the love of art and creating to children. If you are a parent (or grandparent, caregiver, teacher, etc) who wants to share art with your children but you just have no idea where to start, I’m here for you.
